Luther Gatewood



Luther is a special situations investor with nine years of investing experience.  


Prior to joining Turnspire, Luther was a Principal at Athyrium Capital Management, an investment firm that advises funds with over $4.6 billion in committed capital. At Athyrium, Luther restructured investments in existing portfolio companies and sourced, evaluated and executed new investments.


Prior to Athyrium, Luther was a Senior Analyst at Q Investments, a private investment firm with flexible capital that seeks opportunities across the entire capital structure. At Q, Luther actively worked to represent Q’s interests as a creditor in bankruptcy and out-of-court restructurings.


Prior to Q, Luther was an Analyst at Elliott Management, a multi-strategy investment firm that manages over $50 billion. At Elliott, Luther focused primarily on investments in distressed debt.


Luther started his investment career as an Associate at Apax Partners, a global private equity firm that has raised over $60 billion in aggregate fund commitments, after working as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley advising industrial companies on M&A transactions, capital raises and other strategic initiatives.


Luther has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was awarded as an Arjay Miller Scholar and selected to be a Toigo Fellow, and an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
